always felt kind of weird how much souls/borne care about Builds

I do not care about Builds. I am incapable of caring about Builds. Just give me a combat system and let me get good at it

anyway after spending like twenty years making Games About Builds fromsoft turned around and made Sekiro, which is essentially What If Beat Saber Was Actual Swords and also basically the best combat system ever designed lmao

it's weird how much people talk about bloodborne Lore and Themes and such bc like......... this is the second time I'm playing it and I still have absolutely no idea what the fuck is going on

like it uses the same "item descriptions and easily-missable quest dialog" structure as dark souls, but I played dark souls without googling everything and I still had a pretty clear idea of, like, what the story was about and who the characters were and who the bosses used to be

but like even in comparison to dark souls' famously obtuse writing, bloodborne just refuses to give you even the most basic exposition

it feels... bad honestly. I'm all for mystery but bb doesn't even drop enough hints to make me WANT to dig into it. It's *aggressively* obtuse

ahhh crap I totally thought Snake Hell Forest was from dark souls 3

I also thought Hemwick Charnel Lane was going to suck, and then it was super short and straightforward, and I realized I was actually thinking of the witch village from DS3

...which apparently means, if you show me a fromsoft level and ask me which game it was from, my unconscious rubric is "Is this zone an obnoxious maze that's way, way too big, and is a miserable slog to fight through, and is also totally irrelevant? Must've been Dark Souls 3"
