unsure what to do with my time now that I have finished watching Literally All of Macross

ultimately I stand by this take

My other take is Macross Frontier is incredible. Art's amazing, music's amazing, Wow Cool Robot, nails a perfect balance between 70s/trek-style humanist hard scifi and glorious anime bullshit

it's not without flaws but it's def an all-time fav for me. Highly recommend

...unfortunately I watched Frontier first and then none of the others are nearly as good lol. The only other one I'd really recommend is Plus

every entry strikes a WILDLY different tone so the fans all hate each other lol. IMO the other shows vary from Pretty Cool to Very Bad

Anyway the wildest thing is that Macross's setting establishes that any character could, at any time, address their problems by becoming 50 feet tall and fistfighting a plane. In almost 40 years' worth of anime the writers actually used this option like ONCE

there are like multiple entire shows where they're like "how will we solve this crisis" and im just yelling BECOME ＨＵＧＥ at the tv but they just never did

utterly baffling

cannot fucking believe they made fifty entire episodes of Macross 7 and never once gave us Huge Mylene

anyway you should watch Macross Frontier it rules
