in this episode a monster curses everyone to become super impatient and neurotically obsessed with not wasting time

everyone's panicking about being late for things and maximizing efficiency and she's just like:

PROTECT THE INNOLENT

lmao so Moon's power is throwing a magic frisbee and Mercury's power is making a magic smokescreen and I was like "oh neat their powers are unconventional and not really violence-focused because it's a show for young girls" and then Mars joins and she gets a fucking flame cannon

it's very funny watching sailor moon *after* having watched macross 7, because in retrospect macross 7 was definitely going for the same vibes but wasn't nearly as good at it

a really fun aspect of this show is it gets a lot of comedy out of just silly movements and faces. Feels much more like A Cartoon than most anime

It's far less interested in drawing faces consistently than it is in making them ridiculously expressive

this episode features some characters who are supposed to be british aristocrats, so in order to depict british people the artists just draw their faces Less Anime than the japanese characters lol

every time you use a dodge in a videogame it should look and sound exactly like this

about halfway through the show the sound team suddenly discovered Synthesizers and now every episode has these random quavery BWEEOWWW noises when you least expect them

speaking of Synthesizers, at a certain point Moon Healing Escalation gets upgraded with new sound effects, and occasionally it just clips the absolute fuck out of the audio

okay I finished the first season of Sailor Moon

that would have been absolutely traumatizing as a 12 year old holy shit

reading how the 90s english dub handled the last couple episodes apparently the answer is basically "they removed most of the plot" lmao

apparently there was no break between seasons when it originally aired, so season two just started a week later, which prob helped

makes it more of a big dramatic plot event and less of "that's the end, fuck you, hope there's another season next year" lmao

anyway I have learned that sailor moon is extremely good
